John's schooner, Harvest Home, was built in Essex. Perhaps he arrives in Gloucester with Matilda in the Forest Queen. In 1850 [Census Records] he was living with a number of other N.S. fisherman including: David Meferson (30), Edmund Pyne (23), Barney Pyne (20), Benjamin Bass (19), John Cork (30), and John Shaw (21). John was 19.
