Left $250,000 and property on Duncan Street (now the Building Center) and a house on Prospect Street, where his daughter, Ada, lived from six years to age thirty-five. He made sails by hand for the big fishing schooners that put out from Gloucester Harbor. He and his partner were called "fish chandlers." They furnished all the gear and food the boats carried.
