On Dec. 25, 1712, we find Thomas West in Concord, Chester County, PA, very busy indeed, as he bought that day four small tracts of land, 43 acres in all. We are told he was a cooper. Here they remained for 24 years, active, energetic Quakers. Thomas bought several lots of land, one in 1736 between Front and Second streets and Market and West, and one or two below Front on or near Christiana; and in 1738, the square between 5th and 6th and West and Pasture (Washington) streets. West street was named after Thomas West.
