Biography Notes...

Charles was 17 when he landed in Halifax in 1759. At the defeat of the French and the signing of the treaty in 1759, the English speaking colonists began to move up in New Brunswick, many of them receiving crown grants. In 1763, Charles received a crown grant (500 acres - Jolicure). All the Oultons in New Brunswick and most of the Oultons in the United States are decended from Charles and Abigail. It was in 1759 that Charles and his widowed mother came to Canada. They settled in Jolicure.
